Job Description:

Conceptualize, plan and execute prototype, unit, and production tooling projects for a variety of injection molded items in the Consumer Electronics area. Position will oversee vendor activities, review and approve designs and advise direction to ensure proper function and capability of injection mold tooling from quoting/inception thru commercialization phases. Work in a team environment with key engineering and manufacturing personnel to meet project metrics. Contribute to product design reviews and lead mold design reviews to ensure quality, reliability and productivity of the injection molds. Use proven trouble shooting skills to resolve mold, machine and process issues. This position requires a highly organized, self-motivated individual who can effectively communicate with a diverse group of people and situations -verbally and in writing.

  1. Manage assigned projects on coordination with local teams, plants, and vendors from conception to completion within assigned budgets and to meet mold standards
  2. Coordinate/Provide information to all internal team functional areas, plant/technical/customer.
  3. Collaborate with program managers to use internal program management tools such as MS Project and the new product innovation process.
  4. Collaborate with projects teams to develop concepts, prototypes, and new technologies to improve and/or speed delivery and efficiency for mold tooling.
  5. Typical workload ranges b/w 8 to 12 new or other major brand-maintenance projects and some additional minor consulting and refurbishment projects with manufacturing plants simultaneously.
  6. Responsible for bring in mechanically functional tooling, on time, budgets, and in many cases dimensionally correct directly from vendors.
  7. Collaborating with project team and implementing change orders with vendors to bring tools into dimensional compliance within timeline and budgets.


  1. BS degree in engineering with emphasis in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering highly preferred. Associates degree in technical/engineering with applicable experience such as tooling apprenticeship program will be considered.
  2. Strong experience working with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) is required to perform regular analysis of data captured on concepts, designs and functional testing. Demonstrated ability to utilize Office tools for regular communication of data, project status and project justification.
  3. Demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues with internal customers/teams and plants as well as the ability to prioritize, multi-task, proactively think, and be results-oriented.
  4. Must be able to work independently yet strong collaboration skills are required.
  5. -10-15 years injection tool engineering experience directing and leading projects with customers, design and build of injection molds and experience with injection presses, hot runners, controllers, including installation and validation of tools.


  1. Multi-Lingual experience is desirable (Fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese plus).
  2. Knowledge in statistical methods and programs desirable (SPC/DOE/MiniTab).
  3. Experience with use of in-mold assembly/robotic operations and mold processing tools desirable.
  4. Experience in validation protocols(URS/FAT/IQ/OQ/PQ processes) desirable.
  5. Experience in plastics processing & other tooling disciplines in the healthcare and medical device industry desirable(eg. Injection Blow Molding).
